On calm days and with the tide being low, SUP boarding in the bay of Punta Chame is a relaxing activity. You can explore the coastline and the lagoons of Punta Chame from the water.
Kayak
If you are up for an adventure, paddle over to John Waynes Island and stumble through the remains of John Wayne City and the old abandoned Hotel. Or explore the mangroves lining the coastline.
Day Trips
We are often running around 3-day trips per week to show you the beautiful area around Punta Chame and mix up the kitesurfing a little.
We run a weekly canyon trip which is included in your stay.
In case we ever have no wind days, we are always sure to offer day trips.
We are passionate about surfing as well as kitesurfing so whenever the waves are good we are offering surf trips daily. When it’s pumping we surf twice in a day. We have over 30+ surf boards so always enough for everyone!
You can see in the infographic how we make our daily decisions for if and what day trips we will be running. We have two mini busses and can use additional cars so can always offer all our guests to join.

Surf Trips – $30 per person
All of our surf trips are 3 hours and run to Chame Banks, just a 10-minute drive from Panama Kite House on the other side of the peninsula. During the windy season, this spot consistently delivers. Even the smallest swells turn into perfectly shaped waves thanks to the offshore wind. Chame Banks works for all levels — fun and forgiving for beginners, but still offering high-quality rides for intermediate and advanced surfers.
We’ve been surfing here for years and know the tides inside out, so we’ll always get you there at the best time. Sunrise sessions are often our favorite when the tides line up. From Monday to Friday, the spot is usually quiet, and while weekends can be busier, with multiple A-frames spread along the beach there’s always a peak to call your own. At the beach you’ll also find a pump track and a laid-back beach bar — perfect if you want to chill out after your session or just hang while others surf.
Boards & Equipment
We have a huge quiver of 30+ boards:
- Performance soft-tops (6, 7 & 8 ft) — included in the trip
-A wide selection of hard boards — available for rental if you’d like to step up your level
The Trip
Jump in the minibus with us, enjoy the surf, or just relax on the wild beach.
- Surf trip – $30 per person (3 hours, includes transport & soft-top board)
- Beach trip (no surfing) – $10 per person (transport only)
Lessons
- Group lessons – $60 per person (2 hours, minimum 2 people, includes boards and transport)
- Private lessons – $70 per hour (depending on instructor availability)
Whether you’re catching your very first wave or chasing longer rides, Chame Banks is the perfect place to enjoy surfing in Panama.
E-Foiling & Tow Foiling
Incase the wind drops, the fun doesn’t stop. At Panama Kite House we offer both E-foiling and tow foiling — two awesome ways to experience the feeling of flying above the water.
With our E-foil setup you’ll enjoy around an hour of riding time per battery, and since we have multiple batteries, the session can keep going without interruption. The E-foil is perfect for learning, as you control the throttle and progress at your own pace.
If it’s windy and you’d like to try E-foiling, we can bring you to a sheltered flatwater spot ideal for riding. For tow foiling, we use our boat to pull you into flight — the easiest way to get the sensation of foiling for the first time. We have a variety of boards available and offer lessons for both, so beginners are always welcome.

Canyons, Climbing & Bouldering - Included
The Canyons are located about 30 min drive from the Kite House, we usually make one trip per week. After a short walk you can enjoy swimming and jumping off the cliffs of the canyons Bouldering up different climbing routes or just relax in the shade under some trees.
Check out the video of a morning with kiting followed by a canyon trip early this December, there was some rain the night before as it was the end of the wet season so more water falls and rapids than usual, enjoy!
Turtle Releasing - $15 donation to organization, transfer included
Just a 10-minute walk up the peninsula and you will find a turtle breeding sanctuary. Whenever the turtles are ready to leave their nests we always our guests are invited to come and get involved. Normally the turtles are released on a weekly basis from December until the end of February, a voluntary $15 donation per person can be given to the conservation organization that takes care of the turtles.

Sunrise Hike - $35pp
Every evening we marvel at the beautiful sun setting behind Cerro Chame. Apart from beautiful sunset photos, Cerro Chame also offers an amazing view of Punta Chame, the Surf Spot at Chame Banks and the Islands in the far distance. Join us for a sunrise Hike, leaving the kite house at around 5:30 to start the hike in the cool morning air. We will arrive on top after about 1.5-2h hike and enjoy the beautiful views before making our way down again.
Depending on the weather we may also leave at 6 or 7 as sometimes early in the morning there can be low clouds messing up the view.
****
We only run the sunrise hike when there is no wind in the mornings and for groups of 4+

John Wayne Island
Isla Taborcillo, also known as John Wayne Island is an adventure, you do not want to miss. Take a boat over to the Islands and stumble through the remains of abandoned John Wayne City and the old Hotel. It feels like stepping back in time when wondering through the old post office, the museum and church and exploring all that has been left behind. The boat ride costs between 10/15 dollar per person, 4 people minimum.
Massage Therapy & Ice Baths
Recovery is just as important as time on the water. At Panama Kite House, we offer both massage therapy and ice baths to keep your body feeling fresh and ready for your next session.
Massage Therapy
A professional massage therapist visits the guesthouse every Sunday (by request) and is also available on other days when booked for two or more people. Massages are given in a cool, shaded outdoor area, with options ranging from relaxation to deep-tissue sports massage, starting from $60 per hour.
Ice Baths
We run an ice bath session once or twice a week — included in your stay — to boost recovery and circulation. If there’s more demand, we’re always happy to run extra sessions. It’s the perfect way to speed up recovery after a big kite session and feel recharged for the next one.
Fishing & Snorkelling Trips to Isla Otoque
Just a short speedboat ride from Panama Kite House, Isla Otoque is the perfect spot for a day of fishing, snorkeling, and exploring.
Trips usually run from 8:00 am – 2:00 pm (adjusted according to the tides) and include the boat, skipper, fishing rods, bait, and drinks. Whenever we get a nice fresh catch, it always goes straight on the grill the same day — or, with the right fish, we’ll prepare sashimi or ceviche for everyone to share.
The waters around Isla Otoque are often crystal-clear, making it an amazing place to snorkel or try spearfishing, with plenty of marine life to see. On land, you can take a short walk through the island’s small village and enjoy beautiful viewpoints. From March onwards, there’s also a chance of spotting whales during the trip.
